Wo/Manhouse
Wo/Manhouse was the 2022 re-envisioning of Womanhouse, the groundbreaking feminist installation created by the Feminist Art Program in 1972 facilitated by Judy Chicago and Miriam Schapiro with the support of Cal Arts in Los Angeles.

The idea for a new Womanhouse was born in March 2021 in Belen, New Mexico, when Megan Malcom-Morgan ("3M") proposed to celebrate the upcoming 50th anniversary of the original with a new Womanhouse. Upon formal approve by Judy Chicago and the board of the nonprofit Through the Flower, work got underway.

Wo/Manhouse was a two-part celebration: an historic exhibition at the Through the Flower Art Space and the re-envisioned Wo/Manhouse open to artists across the gender spectrum who lived in New Mexico.

The artmaking by 19 New Mexico artists was coordinated by 3M and facilitated by artist Nancy Youdelman, a practicing artist who participated in the original Womanhouse.
Wo/Manhouse honored three historical pieces with modern adaptations, including a re-imagining of Youdelman and Karen LeCocq's Lea’s Room with a monologue titled Aging, written by Youdelman and performed by Youdelman and LeCocq during the opening weekend. Six other performances were written exclusively for Wo/Manhouse, developed in performance workshops coordinated by 3M and facilitated by Judy Chicago.
